About AI
Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, is the intelligence through which machines, software, and devices perform actions and make decisions independently. In a sense, they mimic human thinking ability. Because AI is broadly applicable, its development impacts many business sectors and society as a whole. It is expected that AI will largely determine our prosperity and well-being in the future.
Although AI is not new—its first developments took place in the 1950s—this technology is still in its infancy in many respects. Due to the exponential growth of data, the increasing computational power of computers each year, and ever more powerful AI algorithms, this technology is rapidly advancing. This means that many companies are eager to explore the opportunities presented by AI or to take the next step in this field.
National Strategy
The Netherlands is building a strong position in both the development and application of AI. For this purpose, the government has developed a strategic action plan and established the Dutch AI Coalition (NLAIC). This coalition utilizes AI to address major economic and societal challenges, to seize concrete business opportunities, and to strengthen our international competitive position. AI Hub Eastern Netherlands is a partner of NLAIC. For more information about AI and NLAIC, visit nlaic.com. More explanations about AI can be found in the AI Bundle.
