Learning by Doing: AMELIA Boosts AI Skills in the Manufacturing Industry
23
Feb '26The Dutch manufacturing industry faces major challenges. Labor shortages and an aging workforce are putting pressure on production capacity. International competition and stricter sustainability requirements also call for faster innovation and more efficient processes. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers powerful solutions for areas such as quality control, predictive maintenance, and process optimization. At the same time, the sector is also grappling with a severe shortage of qualified AI talent, partly due to the rapid development of AI technologies.
To bridge this gap, AMELIA was launched: an AI Learning Community focused on accelerating and making AI applications more sustainable within the manufacturing industry in the northern and eastern Netherlands. Within AMELIA, companies, educational institutions (vocational, higher vocational, and university levels), and network partners collaborate closely based on the principle of “learning by doing.”
