Pursuing sustainability in food systems through AI innovation

On 2 December, the ELSA lab is hosting its annual event where innovative software developers and hardware suppliers, researchers, policymakers and supply chain partners will learn, present and discuss AI in agrifood. Topics of discussion will include the trade-offs to be made within sustainable entrepreneurship, for example: ‘How can AI innovations be deployed so that sustainability and business goals reinforce each other?’

The programme is open to anyone interested in AI in the sustainable food chain, including farmers, growers, chain parties, researchers, tech developers and policymakers. The event's keynote speaker is sustainable entrepreneur Leen Zevenbergen. In 1985, he founded Bolesian, the first AI company in the Netherlands. Since then, he has founded 21 companies worldwide with a strong focus on sustainability and social responsibility. He is also founder of B For Good Leaders and B Lab Europe, the non-profit behind the European B Corp community.

This event is in English.

Programme and registration (before 25 November 2024)

The ELSA lab AI for Sustainable Food Systems (AI4SFS) at Wageningen University & Research is a knowledge hub where research is conducted for AI applications ‘in the making’. The ELSA lab focuses on the responsible development of AI by helping software and hardware developers to develop their AI applications in an ethically, socially and legally responsible manner. Identifying risks early on helps make better and safer use of the opportunities offered by AI.
