On Oct. 8, Women in AI Benelux launched the Women in AI Circle East Netherlands. This initiative, designed to bring women together for inspiration and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), took place in the World Trade Center Arnhem-Nijmegen at software company Avisi. It is the first circle in this region and was supported by AI-hub Oost-Nederland.

Lilian de Jong of Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek and co-founder Dutch AI ethics community and Sanne Janssen of Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek and Radboud University facilitated an interactive workshop on the impact of Generative AI on society. In groups, attendees explored possible future scenarios for generative AI in order to identify the positive and negative sides of each scenario. Because: generative AI is a tool and we can choose to use it responsibly. Lilian de Jong: “Using future scenarios, we can analyze how our choices affect what role generative AI plays in our society. That way, we can explore how each scenario brings both positive changes and challenges.”

Esra Cooke-Bakker, Research Lead AI at Avisi, looks back on the launch positively: “It is wonderful that this initiative is now also in the Eastern Netherlands. I am pleased that we were able to facilitate this first meeting from Avisi”.
